The Right Of The People  (06/29/2013)

Let's get one thing straight: I'm not a huge fan of handguns and rifles. I've never owned one. As my children will readily attest, we've always even taken steps, when they were young, to direct them AWAY from gun-related play to other more productive activities, such as outdoors activities and sports, simply because gun-related play is so predominate in this country. Take a look at the software racks, next time you're in a store.

Having said that, however, I AM a person who believes fervently in the US Constitution. I do NOT stand in lock-step with the US Government (mostly because they do NOT believe in the Constitution, anymore) and I do NOT stand in lock-step with the White house (who DEFINITELY doesn't believe in the Constitution anymore).

The Constitution says 'the rights of the people (not the militia.. PEOPLE) to bear arms shall not be infringed". I will defend that right to my death, whether I own a gun or not. Period. End of Story.

Stupid people kill with guns, yes. But they do so (and in far larger numbers) with automobiles, knives, baseball bats, chain saws, and fists. I don't see anyone trying to remove those items from our houses.

Bottom Line: If you read that line above from the Constitution and do not accept, support or believe it, then you do NOT support the Constitution. Simply put: You are not a patriotic American.

You can't have it both ways: You can't CLAIM to be a patriotic American and then piss all over the framework that created Americans.

That would make you.....

A hypocrite, not an American.

the right of the people to bear arms shall NOT be infringed....
